This was a fairly new idea, in Kendu bay, the soil is not the best for crops since it is sandy. many mothers did not they could grow fruits and vegetables in sacks ( at least every house hold has a sack), until we brought Kibera women – Thanks Ms. Jane Anyango, the coordinator of Kibera women for peace. now the idea has spread widely, and even brought another….growing vegetables in very old basins and buckets.
There is also an educational / learning exchange programs that work so well with rural women. Mothers love learning new idea, and MAMI is there to build and create those bridges and linkages that change women’s lives for the better. Example is the fire less cooker initiative that was pear headed by Ms. Naomi Atieno of osiep oloyo wadu women self help group.
